Our Story
Adelaide Cantonese Language School is a registered not-for-profit dedicated to helping children and adults learn and love Cantonese using Traditional Chinese characters.
Established in 2023, we launched our inaugural children’s course in 2024 and were accredited by Community Language Schools SA the same year.
As the first and currently the only Cantonese community language school in South Australia, we have grown into a supportive community of families, teachers, and partners who believe language learning should be both rigorous and joyful.
Our purpose is simple. We provide a safe, structured, and engaging environment where students build confidence in speaking, listening, reading, and writing, and where culture is experienced through meaningful, hands-on activities.
Our community language school programs mainly serve children aged 4 to 12. We also run occasional term-break playgroups for children aged 2 to 4, and we are planning to offer adult programs in the future.
Our Teachers & Learning Approach
Our teachers understand the different learning styles and classroom expectations of students from Hong Kong and Australia. They balance structure with play, and academic rigour with engaging activities, creating lessons that feel “just right” for children growing up bilingual and cross-cultural.
