Canton Cubs

For students from Cantonese-speaking families who can already understand basic Cantonese instructions and daily vocabulary (e.g., food, animals, colours), but need support to form full sentences and express themselves confidently in Cantonese.


Course Content:

  • Focuses on speaking and listening through songs, stories, crafts and play
  • No formal writing - learning through play and daily interaction
  • Includes moral and character education (punctuality, politeness, tidiness)
  • Inspired by the spirit of Hong Kong kindergartens and Australian early learning principles​

RAW Program

For students who can already follow everyday Cantonese classroom instructions (such as “Get ready,” “Be quiet,” or “Let’s take a look”) and show interest in Chinese print. They may recognise some characters from storybooks or songs and are ready to start learning to read and write in a structured yet playful environment.


Course Content:

  • Speaking

  • Listening

  • Reading

  • Writing

  • Focus on developing Chinese reading and writing skills
  • Main Curriculum: Little Bean Cantonese, supplemented by Basic Chinese Characters 500 and other resources
  • Lower levels include in-class exercises (no written homework), real-time feedback is provided by teachers
  • Higher levels include light dictation and informal assessments in a playful, stress-free environment

LAS Program

  • Speaking

  • Listening

For students who are learning to follow simple Cantonese classroom instructions and understand a few familiar words or learning to respond or start a conversation. The program supports them in using Cantonese naturally through songs, stories, games, and daily communication practice.

Course content:

  • Teaches everyday conversations through board games, personalised notes, thematic activities, and interactive games
  • Conducted in an interactive format, with Cantonese phonetics as a learning aid
  • Aims to help children naturally grasp daily conversations, such as "Can I have some ice cream?" or "I saw two giraffes at the zoo yesterday. They're tall!
